Why stamped concrete fades
Stamped concrete gets its look from color hardener and antique release worked into the top few millimetres of the slab. Sealer is what protects that layer. When the sealer wears through — and in Indiana that takes about two to three years — sun, rain, salt and foot traffic start stripping the color off directly.
The pattern is still there. The stone texture is still there. What you're looking at is grey, chalky concrete where rich color used to be. Pressure washing it makes it cleaner but greyer, because you're washing away what little pigment is left.
Restoration puts the color back and then seals it in, so you get the original look without the cost of tearing out and repouring the slab.
Our Process
How a restoration runs
1. Deep clean
Commercial surface cleaner plus the right detergent for whatever is on the concrete — algae, oil, rust or old failing sealer.
2. Dry and prep
The slab has to be fully dry before anything goes down. We check the weather window and we don't rush this step.
3. Seal in two coats
Two thin coats bond and wear better than one heavy one. We match the finish — matte, satin or wet look — to what you want.
Signs your stamped concrete is ready
The color looks washed out, chalky or grey compared to when it was poured
Water soaks straight in instead of beading on the surface
Old sealer is peeling, flaking or has gone cloudy and white
Grout lines have lost their contrast and the pattern looks flat
Algae or green film keeps coming back in the shaded areas
It hasn't been sealed in three years or more
